Spitfires down Rumble
Coventry Spitfires took first blood the two ‘festive period’ games with a 10-7 win in Coventry. Rumble gave a great account of themselves and were eventually undone by a third period trio of goals, putting it out of Rumbles reach.
The first finished all square at 3 all, with Rumble edging the period on points, despite spitfires taking a quick fire 2 goal lead early on.
Rumble were much better in the second however spitfires found another 2 goal lead pushing the score to 5-3. Rumble once again pulled it back all square and then took their only lead in the game. with less than 2 mins left in the period Spitfires, with a pair of goals within 35 seconds of each other took a goal lead into the second intermission, 7-6.
A slow start to the second quickly saw the Spitfires extend their lead to 8-6 and even further 4 mins later and came out eventual winners with 10 goals to 7.
The game was a well fought game from both teams that showed some real passion at times, unfortunately Rumble beat themselves with some sloppy goals but credit has to go to both teams for the way the game was played and how much each team wanted the win.
